The cabinets are completed! The pulls have not been finalized yet, and Chap and Maura still have a bit of work to do once I leave Austin. They are having it reupholstered, and will be finishing some of the details, such as the pulls and leather straps that will hold the hatchet to the side cabinet. All three cabinets are now assembled and the last parts to build are the three doors left and the small face that covers the bottom part of the large bench in the back. The last cabinet was a bit of a challenge as nothing in this bus is square. Making templates for the sides takes a little bit of time and then perfectly matching the sides also takes a bit of planing and sanding. It is starting to...

Two of the cabinets have been assembled, sanded and the hinges have been mortised. I used biscuits for all the joints, quick and easy but nice and strong; perfect for edge banded plywood. More updates once the cabinets are finished…

I recently grabbed an old Pflueger 2094 Gem fly reel from the early 1940’s. It showed quite a bit of wear, but the gear and spring was runnin smooth. I decided to clean it up and now looks pretty decent, even with the pitting. The foot looks great once stripped to show the brass underneath. I will eventually mount it to a nice little 4wt bamboo small stream rod; perfect.

More bus progress; panels are all cut and fitted, roof panel has been routed, seamed, glued and assembled. Time to start on the table and cabinets…

The bus is now completely gutted and floor has been scraped and primed. Most of the panels on the far side were rotted and blistered from a leak in the middle windows. Plywood has been purchased and once the floor is painted the panels will start to get cut and fit…
